London Spring Shogi Tournament on 16-17 March 2024

The London Shogi club is delighted to announce a 2 day shogi tournament on 16-17 March 2024. Organised by club regulars Steven Cain and Kevin Butchart this will be held at the London Mindsports Centre. The nearest tube station is Ravenscourt Park. The two Hammersmith stations are a bit further away.  It takes 30-50 minutes to get to the venue from the main London railway stations, and 40 minutes from Heathrow airport.

You can register for the tournament on this dedicated tournament page, which will be updated with further information as we get nearer to the tournament date.

The tournament entry fee will be £20.

We plan to hold 4 rounds on the Saturday from about 10am to 6pm, and 3 rounds on the Sunday from around 10am to 4pm.

The exact format will be determined based on the number of entries and the range of grades, but will be based on the Swiss system with one or more tournament groups.

The time limit for  games will be in accordance with FESA rating requirements and will be at least 30 minutes + 30 seconds byoyomi. We will make a decision on this shortly and announce it on the tournament page

There are lots of places to eat near the venue. We will be arranging dinner at one of these on Saturday evening and if you would like to join us let us know so that we can plan numbers.

  1. Can you play on just one of the two days (the Saturday clashes with the annual Cambridge Go tournament)?

    1. Sorry for not getting back to you earlier. This tournament is for 2 days and unfortunately we can't accommodate single day entries.
