UK qualification tournament for International Shogi Forum 2024 - who is interested?

The British Shogi Federation has been asked to provide a representative for the International Shogi Forum to be held in Tokyo, Japan, in November 2024.
The UK representative will be provided with travelling expenses, and food and accommodation for the duration of the event.

Only UK passport holders are eligible to be selected. Steven Cain (the author of this blog) will not be eligible having played in both the 2014 and 2017 events, so we will be sending someone else to Japan.

If you are a UK passport holder and would like to compete in a qualification tournament let us know by emailWe are looking at holding the tournament in May or possibly June.
The exact format of the tournament depends on the number of entries and it would be good to know this as soon as possible.

London February 2024 meeting will be on 25.02.2024

There will be a meeting of the London Shogi Club on  Sunday 25.02.2024. We are hoping to hold these meetings monthly where possible, normally on the last Saturday or Sunday of the month. Always check to see if we are meeting, and which day we are meeting on.

We no longer meet in Covent Garden, and are currently playing in the basement room at Starbucks on Cowcross St, Farringdon. Do check downstairs, as you won't see anyone upstairs. There should be someone around from 11.00am until at least 2pm.

Everyone is very welcome, regardless of strength or experience.

The nearest tube station is Farringdon. Barbican station is also close. It's best to check which lines are running with Transport for London.

If you want to confirm attendance or have a question, feel free to let us know by
  • leaving a comment here (google+, wordpress, LJ or similar online ID required)
  • posting or commenting on the Shogi London facebook page; or
  • sending an email.
