London August 2025 meeting will be on 02.08.2025

There will be a meeting of the London Shogi Club on Saturday 02.08.2025. We hold these meetings monthly where possible. Normally on the last Saturday of the month, but our August meeting is early.

The shogi club is at Starbucks on Cowcross St, Farringdon. Do check downstairs, as you won't see anyone upstairs. There should be someone around from 11.00am until at least 2pm.

Everyone is very welcome, regardless of strength or experience.

The nearest tube station is Farringdon. Barbican station is also close. It's best to check which lines are running with Transport for London.

The London shogi club is free and we don't pay for the venue but we do welcome any donations that attendees might like to make. This money will be used to support tournaments which are run at paid for venues.

There will also be a shogi tournament later in August as part of the Mindsports Olympiad in JW3. You can play shogi and many other games if you want to in the week beginning 17 August. Pricing depends on how many games you want to play. The shogi is on Monday 18.08.2025 at 10:00. Details of the event are here

Shogi later in July 2025

The July London shogi meeting was held on 05.06.2025.

There will be no shogi club on the final weekend of the month - the next club meeting will be Saturday 02.08.2025

This is because the European Shogi Championship is being held in Wroclaw Poland from 25-27 July. There are also side events from the 24th. Details can be found on the ESC/WOSC 2025 website

If you are going to the European, there is also a Shogi Wars Kishin tournament on the Shogi Wars app. Details of the qualifying and main event can be found in this FESA website announcement

The London shogi team will be giving shogi demonstrations at the Hyper Japan festival from 18-20 July. This is a paid for event for people interested in things Japanese.
