Teaching professionals at London event on 3-4.05,2025

This is to remind people about the 2 day tournament and teaching event on 3-4 May 2025.

We are delighted to have two excellent teaching professionals attending: Yasushi Ishikawa and Sanada Tetsuaki, Both trained in the Shorekai school for apprentice shogi professionals.

Mr Ishikawa is a 4 dan teaching professional (and reached 3 dan in the Shorekai training school f). He produces English language teaching videos which can be accessed on Vimeo here.

Mr Sanada reached 2 dan in the Shorekai and is also a teaching professional. He lives in the UK and you can read an interview with him at the Ludwigshafen tournament here.

Both players were extremely strong by Japanese standards as a prerequisite to joining the Shorekai, but the important point for the coming weekend is that they are also excellent teachers and really friendly.

Saturday will mainly focus on competitive games. The Sunday will be more focused on instruction through lectures, discussion and play, but will also include a short blitz tournament.

The venue will be the London Mindsports Centre. You can register at this dedicated webpage.

London April 2025 meeting / reminder of May event

There will be a meeting of the London Shogi Club on Saturday 26.04.2025. We'd also remind everyone that there's a tournament and teaching event on 3-4 May.

The April club meeting is in the basement room at Starbucks on Cowcross St, Farringdon. Do check downstairs, as you won't see anyone upstairs. There should be someone around from 11.00am until at least 2pm.

The May tournament and teaching event will be at the London Mindsports Centre. More details are on the tournament page

Everyone is very welcome, regardless of strength or experience.

The nearest tube station is Farringdon. Barbican station is also close. It's best to check which lines are running with Transport for London.
