While the next UK shogi event will be the London club this coming Saturday, this is a reminder that Steve Campbell is running a tournament in Birchington on the following weekend.
This will be on Saturday, June 1st. The venue is Christies Wine Bar, 1 Station Approach, Birchington (CT7 9RD) very close to Birchington railway station.
The plan is to follow the format for 2018, with three rounds between about 10.30am to 5.45pm.
If you want to enter the tournament or make enquiries, please send an email to Shogi London or post a message on the Shogi London facebook page and we will provide Steve's contact details.
Information on the London Shogi Club, shogi events in or near London, and occasional other stuff. Shogi is Japanese chess, and the key way it differs from regular chess is that when you take your opponent pieces, you keep them, and can 'drop' them back on the board later. It's pretty popular in Japan so you often see it in anime and Japanese art, but it's not very well known in the UK.

There will be a Saturday meeting of the London Shogi Club on 25.05.2019. There should be someone around from 11.30am until at least 2pm at Caffe Nero, 10 Bedford Street, London WC2E 7HE.
Everyone is very welcome, regardless of strength or experience.
